Orders

There are a series of orders that you can take from the visit note.

Add an order

To add an order:

• Go to the EMR (e.g. emr.avonhealth.com)
• Click on the hamburger menu on the top left corner > Patients > Click on "View chart" for the appropriate patient
• Find the note that you want add an order to
• Select the action you want

Add a condition

• Set:

  • Condition: Name of condition
  • Active: Whether this condition is still active
  • Onset Date: Onset date for condition
  • End Date: Only applies if the condition is no longer active. End date for condition.
  • Comment: Any comments you want to add

• Press "Add Order"

• This new condition will appear on the visit note and in the patient profile. Any changes made on one will sync to the other.

• Press "X" to delete the newly added condition. This will delete the condition from the patient profile as well.

• Notes:

  • Any conditions added through an order on a visit note can only be deleted through the visit note (you'll be unable to delete the condition through the patient profile).
  • You can still modify the details of the condition through the patient profile but won't be able to change the name of the condition.
  • Once a note is locked and signed, the condition can no longer be deleted. Any conditions that are no longer active should be marked as inactive.

Mark condition inactive

• Set:

  • Condition: Currently active condition to mark inactive

• Press "Add Order"

• This new condition will be marked inactive and the end date will be set to today.

• Press "X" to delete the mark condition inactive order. This will remark the condition as active.

Start a medication

• Set:

  • Medication: Name of medication
  • Active: Whether this medication is still active
  • Sig: Sig for medication
  • Start Date: Start date for medication
  • End Date: Only applies if the medication is no longer active. End date for medication.

• Press "Add Order"

• Go to the Dosespot UI and add a prescription for this medication

• This new medication will appear on the visit note and in the patient profile. Any changes made on one will sync to the other.

• Press "X" to delete the newly added medication. This will delete the medication from the patient profile as well.

• Notes:

  • Any medication added through an order on a visit note can only be deleted through the visit note (you'll be unable to delete the medication through the patient profile).
  • You can still modify the details of the medication through the patient profile but won't be able to change the name and dosage of the medication.
  • Once a note is locked and signed or a prescription is added to a medication, the medication can no longer be deleted. Any medications that are no longer active should be marked as inactive.

Stop a medication

• Set:

  • Medication: Currently active medication to stop

• Press "Add Order"

• This medication will be marked as inactive and the end date will be set to today.

• You will no longer be able to write prescriptions for this medication.

• Any existing prescription request will not be modified or canceled. To cancel any existing prescription requests, go to Dosespot UI and cancel.

• Press "X" to delete the stop medication order. This will remark the medication as active.

Review medications

• Press "Add Order"
• You'll see a table of all current medications with their sigs, start dates, and prescriptions (this list is in sync with external patient panel).
• Presss "X" to delete the reviewed medications order.

Update patient

• Set:

  • Field to Update: Which field on the patient object you want to update. You can currently only update custom fields throgh orders.
  • New Value: New value you want to set the field to - Reason: Reason for making the update

• Press "Add Order"

• The updated field will appear on the visit note and in the patient profile. Any changes made on one will sync to the other.

• Press "X" to delete the update patient order. This will set the field back to it's old value.

• Notes:

  • You can also modify all the details of the patient object via the patient profile.

Add vitals

• Set:
  • Height:
  • Weight:
  • Blood Pressure:
  • Temperature:
  • Pulse:
  • Respiratory Rate:
  • Oxygen Saturation:
  • Pain: Pain scale out of 10.
• Press "Add Order"
• These new vitals will appear on the visit note and in the patient profile. Any changes made on one will sync to the other.
• Press "X" to delete the newly added vitals. This will delete the vitals from the patient profile as well.
• Notes:
  • Any vitals added through an order on a visit note can only be deleted through the visit note (you'll be unable to delete the vital through the patient profile).
  • You can still modify the details of the vitals through the patient profile (e.g. change blood pressure values).
  • Once a note is locked and signed, the vitals can no longer be deleted or edited.
