Smart Phrases
Smart phrases allow you to type a few characters that automatically expand to a longer phrase or paragraph. Smart phrases can currently be used in the 'Editor' question type in notes, care plans, documents, and forms.
Steps:
Create a smart phrase (EMR)
To create a smart phrase:
- Go to the EMR (e.g. emr.avonhealth.com)
- Click on the hamburger menu on the top left corner > Settings > Smart Phrases
- Click "Create a smart phrase"
- Set:
- Name: The characters that the provider will type in note.
- Phrase: The long phrase or paragraph that will automatically replace the characters when typed in a note.
- Tags: Tags for organization purposes.
Edit or delete smart phrases (EMR)
To edit or delete a smart phrase:
- Go to the EMR (e.g. emr.avonhealth.com)
- Click on the hamburger menu on the top left corner > Settings > Smart Phrases
- Click on the smart phrases row that you want to edit
- If you want to edit the smart phrase, update the name, phrase, or tag fields
- If you want to delete the smart phrase, click the trash can icon on the right-hand side
Use a smart phrase (EMR)
To use a smart phrase:
- Go to the EMR (e.g. emr.avonhealth.com)
- Go to a patient's chart by clicking "Select patient" in the topbar and selecting the appropriate patient
- Navigate to the note, care plan, document, or form of interest
- In any of the questions that use the 'Editor' question type, simply type the name of the smart phrase. It'll be automatically replaced with the long phrase.
